8th March: International Women’s Day!!! In the Year 1909, the first Women’s day was celebrated in the USA and later declared as International Women’s Day. But it is not only on 8th of March, women are not only recognized one day and ignored the rest of the days. Women should be recognized for whatever they do in their field each day, let it be in the home, in office, in fields, in any profession. Women deserve all the appreciation from all of us not only from the male counterparts.
Women’s day is the celebration of her existence and her contribution to everyone’s existence. Being Feminist is not being against her male counterpart but encouragement to her right to express her individual thoughts, opinions, her perspective and her fight against those who hinder her growth in life and create boundaries to access her rights.

P V Sindhu, International Badminton Player
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu born on 5 July 1995 Hyderabad, Telangana, India. She belongs to a sports family. In 2000, her father receives the Arjuna Award for his contribution to sports. Her parents were professional volleyball players but Sindhu chose to play badminton by inspiring from Pullela Gopichand. She started playing at the age of eight and learn basics from Mehboob Ali at the badminton courts of Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad.
Later, she joined Pullela Gopichand’s badminton academy and won many titles. Her hard work and passion is the result where she stands today. Currently, P V Sindhu is world no. 3 in the BWF World Ranking. She also became the first Indian women to win a silver medal in Olympic. She is the only athlete who made in our Top 10 powerful women list because of her top-notch performance in Olympic games.

Chanda Kochhar, CEO, ICICI Bank
Chanda Kocchar born on 17 November 1961 in Jodhpur and raised in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She started her schooling at St. Angela Sophia School, Jaipur then moved to Mumbai for her graduation where she got a B.Com degree from Jai Hind College.
Later, she studied cost accountancy from Institute of Cost Accountants of India and MMS degree from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. She was very good at studies. For great remarks in studies, she got the Wockhardt Gold Medal for Excellence in Management Studies as well as the J. N. Bose Gold Medal in Cost Accountancy.

In 1986, she joined the ICICI Bank as the management trainee. During that, she handled basic projects like appraisals and monitoring. Chitra Ramkrishna, Managing Director & CEO, National Stock Exchange of India
Chitra Ramkrishna is born in 1963 in Mumbai. After completing her degrees in B.Com, B.L., and FCA she started her career as a chartered accountant. She first joined the IDBI Bank in the project finance division. For a short time period, she worked for the SEBI then returned back to IDBI Bank after two years.
After coming back she worked on her financial skills while working in treasury and fixed income departments before launching her won marketing the trendsetting deep discount bonds. Her seniors praised for extraordinary work and her role in making the bond issue a success.
Later, she became the first women managing director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange. It was a very big responsibility for her to handle such a big system which now ranked as the world’s largest exchange in cash market trades. She played a very important in the formation of the regulatory policies for NSE and even today, she became the part of the SEBI committees on different type policy issues. She is also the third woman to head a Stock Exchange in the Asia-Pacific region.
For tremendous work, she was selected as the woman of the year in the Business Leadership Awards by the Forbes magazine. She also won Forbes’ Women Leader of the year in 2003.
Sumitra Mahajan, Lok Sabha Speaker
Sumitra Mahajan is born on 12 April 1943 in Chiplun, Maharashtra. She moved to Indore where she completed her education from Indore University which now Devi Ahilya University where she had done B.A., M.A., and L.L.B.
She started her political career in 1989 when she first stood for Lok Sabha Election against former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Prakash Chandra Sethi and won. It was her rise. After that, she served as the Union Minister between 2002 and 2004 where is the response to take care of Human Resources, Communications, and Petroleum. She is well known for her clean and honest politics career.

Tessy Thomas was born in 1963 in Alappuzha, Kerala. She had a tough life while growing up. Her father’s right side of body paralyzed due to suffered stroke when she was 13. Her mother who was a teacher become tough for her to manage all the things at the same time so she quit her job and look after her family. But she’ll make sure all her children get a good education.
She completed her schooling from St. Michael’s Higher Secondary School and St. Joseph’s Girl’s Higher Secondary School in Alleppey. She was really good in studies. She got 100% marks in mathematics in 11th and 12th standard and over 90% marks in science. Because of her such good academics, she got education loan from State Bank Of India of Rs 100 per month to study engineering.
Her home was close to Thumba Rocket Launching Station. Rockets and missiles always excite her. So she joined Guided Missile from the Institute of Armament Technology, Pune which is now Defence Institute of Advanced Technology for her M.Tech. After that, she also completed her MBA in operations management and Ph.D. in guidance missile under DRDO.
She was appointed by A.P.J Abdul Kalam for Agni Programme where she director Agni-III missile project with the range of 3,000 km. Later on, she became the project director of Agni IV missile and became the first Indian women scientist to lead a missile project which was successfully tested in 2009. She received Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for her work in missile technology and also awarded as D.Sc. by ITM University, Gwalior.
Arundhati Bhattacharya, Former Chairperson, State Bank of India
Arundhati Bhattacharya was born on 18 March 1956 in Kolkata. She grew up in Bhilai where her father worked at Bokaro Steel Plant. She completed her schooling from St. Xavier’s School, Bokaro. She always had interested in English Literature so for that she went to Kolkata and studied at Lady Brabourne College and then at Jadavpur University.
After completing her education she joined SBI in 1977 as a probationary officer and became the first women to lead an India-based Fortune India 500 company. During her career, she held very important positions for the company such as foreign exchange, treasury, retail operations, human resources, and investment banking. She also served in the Bank’s New York office. In 2013, she was promoted to as the chairman of the State Bank Of India and become the first women to be chairman of the SBI.
After that, there were many projects launched under her guidance such as SBI General Insurance, SBI Custodial Services, SBI Pension Funds Pvt. Ltd. and the SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Fund. In 2016, she was in 25th position in Forbes most powerful women in the world and 4th in most powerful women in the Asia Pacific by Fortune.
