Meet Major Gaurav Arya (Retd), an ex-soldier from the Indian Army who later switched to the corporate world in 1999. He has worked with big names such as Wipro, Hutch (now Vodafone), and Ernst & Young. In fact, he even served as the CEO and President of a multinational corporation based in Singapore before venturing into media in 2017.
Today, he is a Senior Consulting Editor – Strategic Affairs for a prominent Indian media group. Besides being a media personality, he is also a prolific writer and a public speaker. He is often invited to speak at various events, including business conferences, and even addressed the UK Parliament in 2017.

Major Gaurav Arya was Surely a MAJOR in the kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army.
He joined the Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) Chennai in April 1993 and he belonged to the SSC-57th Course.As a Gentleman Cadet(GC),he was enrolled in the Jessami Company of the academy.
He was good in the Horse Riding events that took place at the Academy so,personally he wanted to join the 61st Cavalry Regiment which is the only active serving Horse cavalry regiment of the world but some of his fellow Coursemates who were his very good friends,wanted him to join the Infantry Regiment as they themselves were joining it too,so as a result he decided to join the Infantry Regiment and he selected the Kumaon Regiment as his first choice.

He was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 17th Kumaon Regiment on 5th of march 1994.He joined his unit (17th Kumaon) when it was stationed in the Suratgarh,Rajasthan in april,1994.

Then,in 1995 his unit moved to Gurdaspur in Punjab and that year Gurdaspur District witnessed heavy floods which caused loss of lives, crops and property and infrastructure.His Unit 17th kumaon tirelessly performed Rescue missions there in flood-hit gurdaspur.
In may 1997 his unit moved to Jammu and Kashmir and remained there only till April 1998.
As a Captain of the Indian Army
He was Company Commander of Bravo Company in Shipki La in Himachal Pradesh which is a High Altitude area located at the height of almost 17000 Feets from the Sealevel.
He met with an accident while descending back to the unit base as he fell from a Cliff into a 400 ft steep valley covered with thick layer of Snow where he got buried in the snow for a long time until 4 Soldiers from his company came down and rescued him from there.
Being stuck in the snow at the cold temperature of -25 degrees Celsius resulted in the major damage to his Lungs as a result he took Voluntary Retirement from the army on the Medical Grounds in 1999.
So,we can calculate that he served for 5 years as an Officer of the Indian Army from 1994 to 1999.
And he has a thorough knowledge about both Line of Control which is Indo-Pak border and Line Actual Border which is Indo-china Border as he served in both the areas while serving in the army.
Shipka La in Himachal Pradesh is located near Indo-china border and Jammu & Kashmir is the place where LOC (Indo-Pak border) is located.
